What’s YOUR “Why”?
The start of a new year always brings out the best intentions from people with resolutions to get healthier or lose weight. It is consistently the #1 most popular “resolution” for most people at the start of January. But what happens when all of the glitter and sparkle of the possibilities of the new year and promises to generally “do better” have faded?
If this is your goal, no amount of guilty images you post next to the refrigerator of super skinny women with toned arms and legs is going to cut it as a truly motivating factor. What should motivate you isn’t external, but internal and should be specific and special to YOU and ONLY YOU.
We are all on our own fitness and health journeys and our only competition should be with ourselves. So, before you work against that same old promise to yourself from last year to “lose weight or be healthier” ask yourself “WHY?”. Why do you want to be healthier? What motivates you to be healthier? Why should you work out? I promise you, if you continue to remind yourself of your “why” the accountability you hold with yourself will motivate you more than any “special day” or “secret crush” you’re trying to look good for ever could.
