I love my kids.
I SERIOUSLY ADORE my kids. Primarily because they are all full of so much personality. As my two youngest get older, the more and more these little personality flare ups and collisions happen and occasionally (okay, MORE than occasionally) they can be a great source of entertainment. Case in point: last night.
I planned to do a workout after I got home from work. Here was the play:
Tabata – 20 sec work / 10 sec rest
Finish each set of exercises 2x before moving on to the next set
2x thru – Jump Squats, High Knees, Jump Lunges, Ski Hops
2x thru – Push Ups, Supermans, Pike Push ups, Floor Tricep Dips
2x thru – Side Squat t Hip Abduction right leg, Repeat for left leg, Pendulum lunge right leg, repeat for left leg
2x thru – Spiderman Plank Right side, repeat left side, V-Ups
After which a core “burnout”:
30 bicycle crunches (hard count – L/R=1)
40 Russian twists with med ball or kettle bell
10 Leg Lifts
15 Oblique V-ups (R)
15 Oblique V-ups (L)
My daughter, who is 6, has been bugging me to do a workout together now that she has some new fancy, smanshey workout duds. Of course, I couldn’t resist. My nine-year old son also couldn’t resist…just in not the she wanted. See for yourself.
There were SO many times when they started in on each other back and forth, this small little snippet doesn’t even do them justice. So much for a go hard workout, but I still got a decent sweat (and a few laughs) and burned close to 300 calories after the burnout.
In the end, they both had a good time and my daughter says she can’t wait to do it again. (Oh, joy!)
Do you ever workout with your children?
Do they love it? Do you? Tell me how you survive workouts, interrupted 😉
